What to Expect:

  • Hip opening can be one of the most enjoyable components of a yoga practice, bringing greater freedom to the entire lower body. When we release tension in the pelvic floor, it deeply affects the lower back, alleviates hip tension, and can even produce an emotional release as the kidneys balance out with the adrenals. However, for many, hip opening is often met with resistance, knee discomfort, pain, and frustration. On the other hand, some people relish the deep stretch of hip opening poses.

  • All levels are welcome to this full-spectrum, alignment-based hip opening workshop. We will work toward preparations for lotus and pigeon pose, including breakdowns of ankle-to-knee positions, pigeon variations, seated postures, and even reclined postures (as the hips open most easily in these positions).

  • Walk out of this workshop with a better understanding of pelvic and hip alignment, and learn how to find anatomical neutral in your own body. You'll gain specific tools such as internal and external rotations, neutral pelvis techniques, and methods for widening and grounding related to your unique anatomy. Discover newfound freedom within the range you were born with.

  • One of my favorite aspects of yoga is helping people unlock their hips, as this lower gate affects everything above it. My approach emphasizes working naturally and without force to gently open and strengthen the lower body. Many who experience this approach notice a release in the hip flexor area (Iliopsoas), feeling longer and even measuring taller!

  • Whether you have deep or shallow hip sockets, love hip opening, or struggle with it, this workshop is for you. Unlock the secrets and demystify this magical area that benefits us in countless ways-from improving sleep and digestion to fostering a more open, joyous state of being.

    This is the 3rd class in a 4 part series, but you are encouraged to come whether this is your 3rd or your 1st!

    As always, the workshop will conclude with wine and goodies!
